Hand of Man

Hand of MAN- a 25′ tall hydraulically controlled hand that crushes EVERYTHING. The best part- controlled by a glove worn by kids. :)

While not my first choice for NW single-track, this bike is the marriage of creativity and craftsmanship personified.

An Orrery is a mechanical device that illustrates the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons in our Solar System… This one is steam powered!

Creating cool things and sharing them with others is what the Makers Faire is all about.  They call it the Greatest Show and Tell on Earth, and every year it takes over the San Mateo Fairgrounds showcasing thousands of amazing things Makers, inventors, thinkers and tinkerers are creating.

Some of the creations are for sale, but most are just examples of cool things people are making.  I go to Maker Faire every year, and it’s amazing to see how people are using the latest available technology to create and inspire other give it a try.  I love how a new technology (3D Printing) or hardware (Raspberry Pi) becomes available, and here you get to see how creative people put it to use.  Their use inspires new product, solutions, or shortcuts for NEW users which spawns improvements and new products and more innovation.

Maker Faires are popping up all over the place, so make sure to check one out if you get the chance.  My creative batteries are fully charged, and I can’t wait to dg in to my next project.
